WHY TAKE SUMMER SCHOOL?
Summer school provides a unique opportunity for individual learners to create new patterns of behavior that lead to resilience - a Do-Over. Students who were overwhelmed by the material or allowed themselves to fall behind can accept this second chance to learn, practice and demonstrate their understanding over a condensed, more focused time period. Students who make the commitment to put the time and effort into their learning, feel successful and are better prepared to participate in their classes in the fall.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Students must have previously taken the course and obtained a minimum final mark of 35%. Verification of this mark will be required prior to your acceptance.
- Mark verification can be done internally for students attending a high school in Seven Oaks School Division.
- Students attending a high school from outside the school division must provide the Summer School Office with an official transcript from their home school to verify that they have received a mark of 35% or better in their selected course(s) by June 28th for their registration to be accepted. Remember you must have acquired your transcript before your home school closes for the summer on June 28th!
ATTENDANCE:
- Attendance is essential for success. Students are expected to attend class on time every day.
- More than 2 absences will result in withdrawal from the course as outlined in the Department of Educations guidelines. No refunds will be issued in this instance.
- Parents/Guardians will be notified of every absence.
APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IS EXPECTED:
- Students are here to learn and school staff are here to facilitate that process. Students, families and staff members will treat one another with respect at all times.
- Students are expected to arrive dressed appropriately for classes and ready to participate.
- All Seven Oaks Schools are by law smoke free campuses; smoking and vaping are not permitted in school buildings or on school grounds.
- Use of drugs or alcohol means that the student is unable to participate in the classroom learning and will need to be removed from the school.
- The safety of our students and staff members is a priority. Violent, threatening or abusive behavior is intolerable and will result in immediate expulsion from the program. Damage to school property would be included in these unacceptable behaviors. No refund will be issued under these circumstances.
- We are here to learn - anything that gets in the way of achieving that goal has no place here.
